During “the most wonderful time of the year,” you MUST include CHOCOLATE and LOTS of it!! Our family favorite is Peppermint Bark! I’m sharing the easiest Peppermint Bark recipe ever and a promise that this is sure to be hit at any event you host or attend!
Serving Size: 2 1/2-3 cups when broken.
Total Prep Time: 1 hour (if that!)
Ingredients
- 1 Bag of Dark Chocolate Ghirardelli melting wafers
- 1 Bag of White Chocolate Ghirardelli melting wafers
- Sea salt flakes
- Cookie sheet
- Parchment paper
- 2 small bowls
- Small rubber spatula
- Holiday sprinkles IF desired
Directions
1.) Line a cookie sheet with parchment paper.
2.) In the microwave, (for about 1 minute +15 seconds) melt chocolates in the two separate bowls.
3.) Pour the different chocolates on to different sections of the parchment paper covered cookie sheet.
4.) With the back of a spoon, spread the chocolate evenly to cover the entire tray.
5.) With a knife, swirl around the tray in different directions to create a “marble effect.”
6.) Cover chocolate evenly with sea salt flakes.
&.) IF DESIRED, now add festive holiday sprinkles.
7.) Place the cookie sheet in the refrigerator (or freezer) for about 30 minutes to harden.
8.) Break into small bite-size pieces and store in an airtight container. Perfect for a little holiday dessert platter or is super cute packaged in a tin box as a gift!
Fun Fact
“Peppermint Bark” is exactly like the traditional “Love Bark” made at Valentine’s Day except for the fact that we use only dark and white chocolates for the holiday and only white (colored with food coloring) for Valentine’s Day. Our “Love Bark” is shades of pale and dark pink and purple and is covered with lots of gaudy valentine-inspired sprinkles!
*If you are celebrating Hanukkah, use 2 bags of white chocolate. While hot, add blue food coloring to one of the bowls of chocolate to create a festive and beautiful shade of blue chocolate. Then continue directions as shared above to create a “marbled effect” combining blue and white.
